St John Ambulance ACT has appointed Martin Fisk as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Fisk, who officially began in the role on Monday, 16 September 2024, has been actively involved in improving health and wellbeing outcomes in the ACT community with his previous leadership roles at Menslink, Fearless Women, the ACT Human Rights Commission and Project Independence.

St John Ambulance ACT Chair James Goodwin welcomed Fisk on behalf of the Board.

鈥淢artin is a highly respected leader with a deep commitment to making a positive impact, bringing a wealth of experience in community leadership and executive management, and has a deeply ingrained passion for improving the lives of those he serves,鈥� Goodwin said.

Fisk said he is 鈥渧ery proud and privileged to join this great organisation in the city that I love鈥�.

鈥淪t John Ambulance ACT plays an important role in supporting the Canberra community and I am looking to grow our impact across the territory to ensure everyone can access high-quality first aid when we need it the most.

鈥淚 would like to see every household, workplace and vehicle in Canberra equipped with a first aid kit as well as an increase in public access to lifesaving defibrillators and, importantly, someone trained in how to use it.

鈥淚 have long admired the dedication, commitment and compassion of the people who work and volunteer for St John Ambulance, ever since receiving much-needed first aid from them some 40 years ago.鈥�

Fisk said he was committed to leading St John Ambulance ACT鈥檚 critical initiatives in Canberra including CBR NightCrew, the mission to increase the number of defibrillators in public spaces, and delivering vital first aid training and support to the community.
