Man charged over alleged antisemitic incident in hospital lift

Alleged antisemitic comments directed at a 28-year-old staff member in a lift at a hospital in Sydney’s south have led to charges, according to . Police have been investigating a report that antisemitic comments were directed at the staff member.

In connection with the incident, which occurred at around 4 pm on 28 February, and following inquiries by officers attached to St George Police Area Command, a 24-year-old man was arrested in Arncliffe at around 6.45 am on 3 April.

According to NSW Police, St George detectives took the 24-year-old to St George Police Station, where he was charged with “stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, and use carriage service — possess violent extremist material”.

Two mobile phones that were seized when a search warrant was executed at a premises at Arncliffe were taken for further examination. The man was refused bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court on 3 April.
