In a variety of different ways, people around the world are showing their support and solidarity for the brave nurses and midwives who continue to care for patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Understanding the courage it takes to provide care in this environment, Health Professionals Bank (HPB) wanted to inspire a thank-you video movement for the nurses on the frontline of the global health crisis.

People were encouraged to join the and upload a video of their household dancing to help show our community鈥檚 appreciation and gratitude towards nurses and midwives caring for people during COVID-19.

Following the International Nurses Day Dance Challenge, HPB compiled all the dance challenges in a thank-you .

鈥淲hen the World Health Organization (WHO) designated 2020 as the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife, it could not have foreseen the global pandemic unfolding with COVID-19,鈥� HPB General Manager Carolyn Murphy said.

鈥淗ere in Australia, our nurses are playing a crucial role across the patient care spectrum. It鈥檚 not widely recognised that nurses make up the largest segment in our health workforce. Australia has approximately 400,000 nurses, with 359,059 registered general nurses, 27,045 nurse and midwives and 5141 midwives Australia-wide.
