New Research released by Bowel Cancer Australia shows Aussies with bowel cancer feel they've got the 'wrong' cancer.

Results of the My Cancer My Voice survey ofÌýÌýnearly 300 Australians affected by bowel cancer have been released in the lead up to Bowel Cancer Awareness Month in June and showÌýhow Aussies with bowel cancer feel like they have the ‘wrong cancer’ due to lack of dedicated support services and low awareness.

The survey also shows more than three quarters (76 per cent) believe the Government does not provide enough dedicated support, and aÌýÌýsimilar number (77 per cent) said more life-extending treatments were needed.
Four out ofÌýÌýfive (81 per cent) felt the general public doesn’t understand their cancer and discussion of bowel cancer is off-limits as the majority (60 per cent) believe people think it’s ‘dirty’.
Bowel Cancer Australia is issuing an urgent call on Government to address concerning inequities in support for our number two cancer killer.
