Professor Jeff Hughes Awarded Prestigious Pharmaceutical Sciences Medal

Professor Jeff Hughes has been awarded the 2014 Australasian Pharmaceutical Sciences Association (APSA) Medal, the highest accolade in pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy practice.
National President of the聽Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA)聽Grant Kardachi, said Professor Hughes聽is a leading figure in developing and implementing innovation in pharmacy practice.
鈥淭his APSA Medal joins other prestigious awards Professor Hughes has won, including Pharmacist of the Year in the PSA Excellence Awards.鈥
Mr Kardachi said Professor Hughes had built a global reputation for his commitment to teaching and learning and has published more than 200 research and professional papers and contributed to 17 books.
鈥淚 know that he puts great value on ensuring there is a strong and targeted focus on evidence-based teaching for undergraduates, postgraduates and practitioners in pharmacy and other allied disciplines,鈥 Mr Kardachi said.
鈥淗e brings that commitment to the Board of PSA where his insight and input is helping the Society establish career and practice pathways for pharmacists.
鈥淎s the pharmacy environment changes, it is critical that we develop these pathways so that pharmacists have a sustainable and viable future, and Professor Hughes鈥 experience and innovative thinking are fundamental to this process.鈥
