Western Australian legislation has been passed to recognise pharmacists as authorised immunisers.
The Western Australian Department of Health has approved the under the聽 Australian Vocational Education and Training sector and it is accredited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority.
National President of PSA, Grant Kardachi, said the decision was in line with other States and Territories which allow pharmacists to immunise.
鈥淭his is a great public health initiative for Western Australia and all its communities,鈥� Mr Kardachi said.
鈥淭he accessibility of the pharmacist-delivered vaccinations and the ease of access through pharmacies means that more people are getting vaccinated.
WA pharmacists can now register for the PSA training which is delivered in two parts: Online pre-reading, and face-to-face workshops.
