The national competency standards framework for pharmacists in Australia will be undergoing amendments, for release in early 2016 as announced today by the Pharmacy Practitioner Development Committee (PPDC).
The current framework was developed in 2010, and builds on the Australian National Traning Authority Package Guidelines in the practice of pharmacy. Section One outlines the Competency Standards Framework, including:
-Competency and quality standards for pharmacy practice
-Key influences
-Knowledge, skills and attributes
-Professional practice
-Competency standards
-Application of standards
-Developing a professional practice profile
Section Two outlines the competency standards themselves.
The current guidelines are available for download at the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia鈥檚 .
The review of the 2010 guidelines will take place over a six-week period during which the PPDC are inviting organisations to comment on the content of the framework through consultation questions.
