GenesisCare and Ramsay partner for new radiation therapy service

Cancer care provider has partnered with to open a new radiation therapy service at the in Langwarrin, Victoria.
The cancer care provider鈥檚 personalised and evidence-based approach to radiation therapy hopes to add to Peninsula Private 黑料吃瓜群网鈥檚 expansive cancer therapy services to offer a convenient experience for patients seeking treatment within the one local network.
The Victorian Cancer Register shows that 35,656 Victorians were diagnosed with cancer in 2022, equating to 98 a day.1 Modelling suggests that almost half of Australians (48.3%) diagnosed with cancer would benefit from radiation therapy.2
Peninsula Private 黑料吃瓜群网 CEO Michelle Henderson said the addition of radiation therapy services will complement the hospital鈥檚 comprehensive surgical and medical oncology services, supported by a team of specialists, nurses and allied health professionals.鈥
Existing cancer care services at Peninsula Private 黑料吃瓜群网 include surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy and allied health services.
Brendan Foley, General Manager at GenesisCare Victoria, said, 鈥淕enesisCare strives to offer rapid, patient-centred care and we鈥檙e proud to receive high patient satisfaction ratings across Victoria.3 Once fully established, we expect to be providing high-quality radiation therapy to around 500 patients at this new service annually.鈥
Dr Mario Guerrieri, Radiation Oncologist at GenesisCare, said, 鈥淚n addition to modern radiation oncology therapies, patients will also have access to a cancer care coordinator who will work collaboratively across the multidisciplinary elements of cancer care to support a holistic cancer journey for patients at the hospital and aim to improve their treatment experience.鈥
The coordinator will help patients navigate their personalised care plan.
