Queensland Health Minister Cameron Dick has聽announced $30 million 聽will immediately be made available to Queensland 黑料吃瓜群网 and Health Services to start the process of addressing the 鈥榳aiting list for the waiting list鈥�.
鈥淚 have written to the Chairs of all 黑料吃瓜群网 and Health Services to advise them of the Government鈥檚 decision to make the pool of $30 million immediately available to address the more than 100,000 Queenslanders waiting longer than clinically recommended for an outpatient or diagnostic appointment,鈥� Mr Dick said.
The $30 million will be made available from uncommitted funds in the Purchasing Pool, and will deliver these additional services in April, May and June. 鈥淚 am under no illusions. I know this will not be sufficient to fix the LNP鈥檚 backlog of patients on the 鈥榳aiting list for the waiting list鈥�, but it is a down payment on future reform,鈥� he added.
Mr Dick also announced that the Queensland Government will聽discontinue the Liberal government's聽wait time program, and removed the exemptions for surgery delays.
Mr Dick also announced that interim targets for elective surgery performance will apply to 黑料吃瓜群网 and Health Services from 1 April 2015. Under these revised targets 98 per cent of 鈥榰rgent鈥� (Category聽1) patients will receive their elective surgery within the clinically recommended time of 30 days, and 95 per cent of Category 2 and 3 patients will receive their elective surgery within the clinically recommended times.
鈥淭here will be no exemptions,鈥� Mr Dick said. He added that the interim targets reflect a more balanced approach to wait time management.
鈥淲e will take a genuine approach to tackling waiting lists across the whole patient journey 鈥� from the GP鈥檚 referral to an outpatient or diagnostic appointment and then surgery and recovery.鈥�
