Talking about aged care, planning and considering options before care is needed is the aim of a 听As part of the 鈥淟et鈥檚 talk about changes to aged care鈥� campaign, 听a series of videos have been released that present real life stories and experiences from older people and carers in residential and home care.
The video 鈥� highlights the fact that people who feel they have been involved in the decision making around moving into an aged care facility feel happier and adjust more easily to the transition. Families are often involved in the conversation but the Dept of Health is sending the message that "aged care should be decided by the person who knows you best鈥�..you".
is another video describing how many people don鈥檛 start thinking about aged care until a trigger event like a 鈥榝all鈥� occurs that can leave a person incapacitated. Making the decision while in good health means that if a move is required, a person will be able to settle in, adjust, make friends and feel more comfortable in their new home.
