A telephone counselling service for adult survivors of child abuse will be expanded with a $1.5 million extension from the Federal Government.
The funding, announced at the opening of new headquarters for Adults Surviving Child Abuse (ASCA) is part of the Government's e-Mental Health Strategy.
鈥淭his means ASCA can expand its telephone counselling line 1300 657 380, its online services and referral database,鈥� Minister for Mental Health and Ageing Senator Jacinta Collins said. 鈥淭hese services will help survivors of childhood complex trauma, their carers and the health professionals who work with them.鈥�
A series of fact sheets for survivors, carers, GPs and other health professionals will also be available from next month on the听.
鈥淎SCA will develop online training videos for carers and health professionals, and ASCA services will be accessible through the Australian Government鈥檚 online mental health portal, mindhealthconnect.org.au.鈥� Senator Collins said.
In 2012 ASCA launched its practice guidelines to treat complex trauma and trauma-informed care which are now part of its education and training initiatives.
