The new and expanded Port Macquarie Base 黑料吃瓜群网 has been officially opened by聽the Federal Assistant Minister for Health, Fiona Nash, and Local MP, Dr David Gillespie.
The hospital's facilities include a new medical 20-bed inpatient unit and a new seven theatre Operating Suite to replace the existing four theatres.
Minister Nash said the facilitities 聽will make a real difference to the lives of Port Macquarie residents and the Mid-North Coast region.
The development will help address growing demand for clinical services in the region, improve access to surgery and emergency department services, and improve the delivery of hospital care in the region,鈥� Minister Nash said.
Dr Gillespie said the redevelopment 聽enables a greater range of medical services to be offered locally鈥攊n particular surgery and emergency department services, as well as improved patient facilities such as a new critical care unit, a new paediatric inpatient unit, and improved mental health unit.
鈥淎 larger emergency department, with dedicated entry point, will allow for more patients to be triaged, stabilised and provided with emergency care within clinically recommended times."
