NHMRC Appoints Professor Anne Kelso as CEO

Medical researcher Professor Anne Kelso AO has been appointed CEO of the聽National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC).
Professor Kelso was Director of the World Health Organisation's Collaborating Centre on Influenza and worked on surveillance and vaccine policy. She was also Director of the Co-operative Research Centre for Vaccine Technology from 2000 to 2006.
鈥淧rofessor Kelso鈥檚 experience and expertise will be a great asset to Australia鈥檚 leading expert body for health and medical research and help Australia build on its reputation as a world leader in medical innovation,鈥 Minister for Health Sussan Ley said at the announcement.
Outgoing CEO聽Professor Warwick Anderson has praised the announcement, saying Professor Kelso is not only an outstanding researcher, but also a leader in the health and medical research sector."
鈥淎s a member of NHMRC Council since 2012, NHMRC鈥檚 Research Committee from 2001 to 2004, and as a valuable contributor to many other NHMRC responsibilities such as peer review, I have always found her input to be considered, astute and immensely valuable,鈥 he said.
鈥淪he will be a strong and intelligent leader for NHMRC and the entire sector and I wish her the best of luck in the role.鈥
Professor Anderson has been appointed聽Secretary-General of the Human Frontier Science Program, which is based in France
