Professor Ramon Shaban has been appointed President of the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control (). The announcement was made at the ACIPC AGM in Hobart where the college is currently hosting its annual conference.
Professor Shaban said the presidency is a great honour and comes at an exciting time for the college.
鈥淭he ACIPC鈥檚 membership continues to grow, the scope of our practice is widening and we can confidently claim to be an organisation for everyone who works in and around infection prevention and control.
鈥淲e are introducing a number of new systems, particularly our new three-tiered credentialing model, and this will open up our educational offering to an even greater number of health professionals.
Professor Shaban paid special tribute to the work of outgoing President Belinda Henderson.
鈥淏elinda has done an outstanding job of leading the college and much of our success today is thanks to her tireless dedication.鈥�
In addition to his role as President of ACIPC, Professor Shaban is Clinical Chair of Infection Prevention and Control at Gold Coast University 黑料吃瓜群网 and Director of the Graduate Infection Prevention and Control Programs at Griffith University.
He is an active member of numerous professional groups and committees including the Australian Strategic and Technical Advisory Group on Antimicrobial Resistance, Chairperson of the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control Credentialing and Professional Standing Committee, Editor-in-Chief of the 鈥楢ustralasian Emergency Nursing Journal鈥�, and a Senior Editor of the College鈥檚 journal 鈥業nfection, Disease and Health鈥�.
