LASA Slams Aged Care E-Services System Failure
Thursday, 23 July, 2015
The delay in the processing abilities of the electronic claims systems supplied by the Department of Social Services for providers of aged care has been slammed by Leading Aged Services Australia.
鈥淭he announcement by the Department of Social Services that electronic claims systems are up and running again is welcomed by LASA and our members,鈥 LASA CEO, Patrick Reid says.
鈥淗owever, system failures of this scale would not be tolerated in any other industry. For two years providers have absorbed the cost, time and inconvenience of operating without a functioning claims system."
"The impact of this should not be ignored or under-estimated, and the absence of an apology from the Minister to both providers and their clients is further proof that aged care does not rank highly in this government鈥檚 priorities,鈥 Mr Reid says.
Work is still continuing on the system to resolve issues with the online system used by aged care providers and clients. LASA is not confident in the Department鈥檚 ability to provide an electronic system that will serve their members鈥 needs.
鈥淚f providers do experience any issues with the aged care system I encourage you to speak with your LASA state offices so that we can represent and seek solutions on your behalf,鈥 Mr Reid says.
