Healthcare in East Arnhem has been a big winner in the Mini Budget announced on 5th December.

More than $10.9 million in Territory and Commonwealth funding will proceed to fund new health centres for Milingimbi and Galiwinku - and Gove District 黑料吃瓜群网 will have fire upgrades costing $650,000.

鈥淗ealth Centres are a crucial part of healthcare in the Territory as they work closely with communities,鈥� NT Treasurer, Robyn Lambley, said. 鈥淭he Country Liberals Government wants a focus on heath in communities, where people live, and there could be no better example of this than health centres.

鈥淲e have provided funding in the Mini Budget to ensure facilities are top class for Milingimbi and Galiwinku residents and聽those in surrounding areas.

鈥淲e are determined to work on improving the level of health of Indigenous Territorians.鈥� The Nhulunbuy alcohol and other drugs聽service is currently under utilised and this model will be reviewed to provide services in a more cost-effective way.

Savings are anticipated of $300,000 in 2013-14 and $600,000 ongoing from 2014-15. The Country Liberals Government has also honoured its election commitment to residents in homelands and outstations throughout the Territory.

鈥淎cross the Territory we have put aside $2 million in 2012-13 and 2013-14 for housing improvements. This will increase to $4 million in 2014-15 and $6 million in 2015-16,鈥� Mrs Lambley said.

The Government has also confirmed $1.5 million in 2012-13 for continued upgrading of Central Arnhem Road, specifically for work on passing areas. 鈥淥nly the Country Liberals remain committed to governing for all Territorians regardless of where they live,鈥澛燤rs Lambley said.
